Overview

You are a motivated individual with a desire to share the joy of climbing with our community. You set the stage for an awe-inspiring, welcoming experience for each guest. You value the day-to-day operations of safety, training, customer service, sales, and daily cleaning duties as a way to ensure consistency and our committed investment in each guest. Your strong work ethic motivates and encourages those around you.  

Front Desk Duties  

PASSION || engaged, dedicated, hard-working, genuine, driven, enthusiastic 

- Be a positive representative for Vertical View and enthusiastically welcome guests!!

- Build relationships by providing exceptional customer service and interacting with each guest;

- Set the standard for self-motivated effort, positive attitude, and outreach to crew members and guests;

- Assist with small gym projects and assignments.


AWARENESS || cooperative, problem-solver, appreciative, personable, good common sense, honest

- Be attentive to customers in a professional manner;

- Professionally answer questions (in-house and on the phone) and problem-solve; 

- Demonstrate strong communication skills and professionally and respectfully resolve conflict;

- Stay current on, enforce, and abide by all gym rules and etiquette; 

- Be a proactive team player in building a cohesive work environment;

- Complete daily cleaning tasks and assess gym cleanliness issues as needed;

- Pay attention to detail, be organized, and exhibit wise use of time-management;

- Be open to giving and receiving feedback in a professional manner.


MENTORSHIP || welcoming, community-centered, supportive, invested, attentive

- Be a positive influence to the FD Crew and to each guest;

- Ensure critical guest check-in procedures are performed through the Approach software;

- Educate guests on merchandise and complete sales transactions;

- Promote and educate guests on memberships and other programs and offerings;

- Perform floor walks, looking for proper techniques and addressing concerns;

- Teach instructional classes, make follow-up observations and corrections, and be versed in risk management.

Front Desk Requirements

- 18 years of age or older preferred;  

- Availability: 18 hours per week minimum with the flexibility to work nights and weekends;

- Customer service and retail experience, climbing-specific preferred;

- Some top rope and bouldering experience is required; 

- Must be top rope certified at our facility before the first training shift;

- Must be lead climbing certified OR take the lead climbing course (free for crew members) within the  

   first month of hiring;

- Willing to participate in and learn all industry-standard training provided by Vertical View instructors;

- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
