VERTICAL VIEW RULES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EVERYONE MUST CHECK IN AT THE FRONT DESK AND HAVE A ‘RELEASE OF LIABILITY WAIVER’ ON FILE.

  • Waivers for persons under the age of 18 must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

  • Children 11 and younger must be accompanied and supervised at all times by an adult (16+)

  • All types of climbing are dangerous and involve inherent risks. Climb at your own risk.

PARTICIPATING IN CLIMBING AND ALL OTHER ACTIVITIES AT VERTICAL VIEW MEANS YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND ASSUME THE RISKS INVOLVED.

  • Observing these rules does not guarantee you will be free from harm.

  • You are responsible for understanding and climbing within your ability and risk limits.

  • All accidents and injuries must be reported to staff regardless of severity.

  • We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

  • Babies and toddlers are not permitted in fall zones (padded areas).

ALL CLIMBING TRAINING AND INSTRUCTION MUST BE DONE BY A VERTICAL VIEW TEAM MEMBER.

  • There is no climbing instruction, personal training, coaching, or commercial use of Vertical View outside of staff instruction.

  • You must pass a test and receive a harness tag before participating in any type of climbing or belaying.

  • Report any faulty or damaged Vertical View equipment or conditions to staff immediately.

  • Equipment brought into Vertical View shall be used at the sole and exclusive risk of the owner of such equipment. You are responsible for knowing how to use, inspect, and ensure that the equipment you bring to Vertical View is fit for use. Vertical View is not responsible for inspecting or otherwise ensuring your equipment is fit for use. Vertical View reserves the right to deny the use of any outside equipment.

  • All lead climbing belayers must use an approved ABD (Assisted Braking Device) type belay device when belaying another climber.

IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO READ AND COMPLY WITH ALL VERTICAL VIEW RULES AND INSTRUCTIONS.

  • This document is not intended to include or provide an exhaustive description of all climbing risks and hazards and is subject to change. Specific rules apply to various parts of the gym.

  • Walk in the gym. Do not run, engage in acrobatic activities, horseplay, or swing on the ropes.

  • The use of vulgar language or improper conduct is not permitted.

  • Vertical View staff have the right to revoke gym access, climbing, or belaying privileges, temporarily or permanently, at any time for dangerous or inappropriate behavior.

  • Speak to the front desk if you have any questions or concerns, or if you would like a copy of the gym rules.

We consider our belaying and lead climbing tests critical to the overall safety of our guests. Never assume that you will automatically pass. Each customer must pass ALL parts of the belay or climbing test without practice, additional instruction, or error. Customers who do not demonstrate proficiency in all parts of the belay or lead climbing test will not be allowed to belay or lead climb that day, but can still enjoy bouldering, use of the auto belays, or top rope climbing with guests who are belay-certified. Guests are only allowed one belay test per day.

  • Climbers who do not pass the top rope belay test are encouraged to take the Belay On class.

  • Climbers who do not pass the lead climbing or belay test are encouraged to take the Lead It class.

AUTO BELAY CLIMBING RULES

  • Climbers must be 12 years old or older to clip themselves into an auto belay.
